On 5 October, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova met her Dutch counterpart, Tom Berendsen, in The Hague to discuss deeper economic cooperation.

Investment, energy, transport, defence and artificial intelligence were among the priorities, alongside stronger connectivity between Europe and the Black Sea region.

The discussions reflect a shared ambition to translate an established bilateral relationship into more tangible economic opportunities.

For Dutch businesses, however, the challenge is rarely identifying Bulgaria's potential. It is finding the right local partners, understanding the market and turning initial interest into operations.

At Eastgate Partners, this is already part of our daily work.

Our Dutch-Bulgarian team is developing cross-border business opportunities, from market entry and industrial partnerships to workforce solutions. Our ongoing collaboration with Dutch recruitment group AB Werkt is one practical example of connecting Dutch commercial demand with Bulgarian capabilities.

Diplomatic cooperation creates opportunities. Business execution turns them into results.
